Lowery’s work often centers on dark, crime-focused narratives, small‑town corruption, and morally complex characters who live on the edge.

His first novel, The Gentle Slope, won the Pinnacle Book Achievement Award for Best Suspense Fiction in 2024.

Lowery is also an award-winning journalist whose reporting has appeared in the Associated Press, Los Angeles Times, and news outlets in more than twenty states. He has received the William S. Also an accomplished musician, Lowery plays the guitar and drums, but his favorite instrument is the bass guitar, which he began playing at the age of twelve. He has written songs, composed orchestral pieces and arrangements, produced records, and played live with bands.

Rooted in Illinois, Lowery was born and raided in Colorado. After living in New Mexico for more than a decade, he once again lives in Colorado with his beautiful wife and their many cats.
